Aotearoa New Zealand is facing a skills shortage in the STEM industries, and we know more investment in the STEM skills pipeline is critical. Businesses and organisations have a part to play in building our future workforce but you may be wondering HOW you can make a difference. Effective community engagement can raise awareness of STEM career pathways and support educators to build STEM skills.
STEM Alliance Aotearoa fosters the development of science and technology across Aotearoa New Zealand through advocating for — and supporting the development of — effective outreach and community engagement. We are building a community of practice for educators and industry professionals to connect, learn, collaborate and grow their impact.
Our mission is to connect schools/kura, businesses and STEM outreach providers to enhance Aotearoa New Zealand’s STEM education, giving every learner the opportunity to engage with real-world mātauranga Māori, science and technology. Our vision is a diverse and equitable STEM-literate Aotearoa New Zealand.
The STEM Alliance offers a range of tools to support organisations to develop more effective STEM outreach and engagement practices, including networking events, training workshops, data snapshots, case studies and strategic advice from our team.
