Aotearoa NZ is facing a skills shortage in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) industries. We know more investment in the STEM skills pipeline is critical. Businesses and STEM professionals have an important part to play in building our future workforce and making STEM more visible, accessible and aspirational to young people.

STEM Alliance Aotearoa champions outreach and community engagement. Effective engagement with communities can raise awareness of STEM career pathways and help build students’ and educators’ confidence in STEM.
OUR MISSION is to connect STEM industry with schools, educators and outreach providers to give every learner the opportunity to engage with real-world STEM.
OUR VISION is a diverse and equitable STEM-literate Aotearoa NZ with local businesses rich with local talent.
WHAT WE DO #
The STEM Alliance team offers bespoke tools and expertise to support organisations to grow their STEM outreach and engagement programmes and align these with wider ESG and DEI strategic outcomes.
Our advice and evidence-based approaches make it easier for organisations to plan, execute and evaluate their STEM strategies.
We also host networking events and publish data insights that seek to bridge the gap between education and industry by fostering conversation, innovations and cross-sector collaborations.
The STEM Alliance’s Community Investment Programme offers schools and STEM organisations a platform for working together on community-engaged STEM projects.

STEM Alliance is an initiative of Te Hononga Akoranga COMET and powered by our team of STEM engagement experts. Our cross-sector connectivity and understanding of the educational landscape enables us to be a strong advocate for STEM.
