We’re pleased to share the 2025 STEM Industry Project Showcase, celebrating the real-world learning journeys rangatahi across Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland took part in this year through STEM Alliance Aotearoa.
This year’s showcase brings together four industry-connected projects delivered in partnership with organisations including Watercare, GHD Foundation, Freemasons Foundation, Glasgow Contractors, Boffa Miskell, Friends of Oakley Creek, Autism NZ and Auckland Museum.
From testing urban water quality and restoring Te Auaunga Oakley Creek, to co-designing a sensory space for neurodiverse learners and exploring the stories of local maunga through earth science and digital design, students were supported to connect STEM with culture, community and place.
Across the projects, students worked alongside mentors, visited professional sites and labs, and stepped into leadership roles through tuakana–teina approaches. Many reported increased confidence in science, stronger interest in STEM subjects and a clearer sense of possible career pathways.
The 2025 STEM Industry Project Showcase highlights what can happen when young people are trusted with meaningful challenges and backed by strong industry partnerships. It’s a snapshot of what equitable, future-focused STEM learning can look like in action.
