The 2025 edition of Student Voice is here, showcasing the writing and insight of 40 rangatahi from twelve schools across Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Created in partnership with Stuff, this year’s magazine brought together students from Years 5 to 13 for a newsroom-style experience mirroring real journalism.
Over six workshops, students learned to interview, test evidence and craft stories that speak to the realities they face in today’s education system. Their articles explore well-being, equity, curriculum change, assessment, AI and the everyday conditions that help young people thrive. Alongside the writing sits a deeper message: when we make space for youth voices, we gain clearer, more grounded perspectives on what is working for learners and what still needs to change.
Student Voice continues to grow into a powerful platform for youth agency, offering educators and decision makers fresh insight into the lives of the students they serve. With contributors spanning primary to secondary, public to private, and a rich diversity of cultural backgrounds, this year’s cohort reflects the complexity and promise of Auckland itself.
