This year’s annual report reflects both the challenge and the opportunity facing education in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Schools continue to navigate curriculum changes, teacher shortages and the wider effects of the cost-of-living crisis — yet COMET’s community-driven projects show what’s possible when equity and innovation go hand in hand.
In this report, we highlight the resilience of Auckland’s educators and learners and reaffirm our mission to close the gap between who our future workforce will be and who is currently entering high-demand industries.
From Student Voice and Youth Voices to WeSTEM, Curious Minds and the STEM Alliance Aotearoa, our initiatives continue to give young people real-world learning opportunities that build confidence, curiosity and agency. The report also outlines our recent 8•16•40 campaign: a national call to action to equip Māori and Pasifika learners for the jobs that will define New Zealand’s future.
We’re proud to share the results of this work and the partnerships that make it possible.
