Student Voice equips students with journalism skills through an annual series of workshops led by journalist and former New Zealand Education Gazette editor Geoff Vause. This work culminates in the publication of the Student Voice magazine, which enables the students to express their unique perspectives on education and global issues.
For the latest magazine, Geoff mentored a diverse group of students from the following Auckland schools:
• Diocesan School for Girls
• Flanshaw Road School
• Massey High School
• Rutherford College
• St Paul’s College
These students worked together to craft the 2024 issue of the Student Voice Magazine, which showcases a range of journalistic styles, including news, opinion, investigative reporting, reviews and cartoons.
The magazine has been distributed to intermediate and secondary schools across Auckland, as well as government officials (including all Members of Parliament) and whānau.
