STEM Educators Expo – 1 July 2024

Posted on 05 June 2024

It is hard to imagine another profession more challenging than teaching. Tasked with shaping the minds and futures of their students, teachers must deliver complex material in an engaging and comprehensible way, cater to diverse learning styles, and manage classrooms with varying dynamics and needs.

Beyond academic instruction, teachers must provide emotional support, act as mentors and foster a safe and inclusive environment where all students can thrive.

Teachers are expected to continuously adapt to new educational technologies, lesson plans and teaching methods, often with limited resources, limited professional development and significant time constraints.

We know the skills and competencies our students will need to tackle the challenges that Aotearoa faces in the future. Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) will be critical for our future, and we have a unique opportunity as educators to influence our students’ aspirations and study pathways.

The upcoming STEM Educators Expo is one way of supporting teachers to find new and exciting ways to inspire and keep young people engaged in learning.

With 33 exhibitors, teachers will be exposed to a wide range of STEM education programmes, resources and learning opportunities. A number of industry representatives will also be there, all keen to understand how their businesses can build stronger relationships with community and support teachers to educate and inspire their future workforce.
