As we move toward independence, we'd like to celebrate our journey over the past financial year.
Firstly, our work as a project incubator and innovation engine moved into high gear, beginning with Talking Matters becoming a standalone organisation in July 2022 and continuing with the handover of our two youth employability initiatives, YEP and YEA, in February 2023.
Meanwhile, our STEM team distributed more than $200,000 across 17 research projects in south and west Auckland communities. This culminated in a film festival held in MOTAT's impressive Aviation Hall in October 2022.
Our Education Māori team published a bilingual book highlighting the stories and artwork from tamariki in Glen Innes in September 2022. They are now working with tamariki in west Auckland to produce a second volume.
None of these remarkable accomplishments would have been possible without the dedicated individuals who have been an integral part of our journey. Indeed, it is the people who make the difference: "He tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata."
