Shaun Gear

A passionate advocate for digital equity and the future of work, Shaun joined Te Hononga Akoranga COMET in 2024 as Project Development Specialist.

Shaun has 15 years of experience working across Aotearoa NZ's education system, during which time he led national education-to-employment initiatives that enabled innovative partnerships. 

Combining his enthusiasm for education, technology and video games, Shaun has a Postgraduate Certificate in Digital Transformation. He is contemplating starting his Master of Design, underscoring his dedication to continuous learning and digital advancement. 

Shaun is also a current board member of the NZ Game Developers Association. 

Beyond his professional pursuits, Shaun lives in northwest Auckland and is the proud father of four children. He enjoys running crazy distances in his spare time. 

For Shaun, being part of COMET is not just about dedicating time; it embodies a personal quest to nurture and expand local talent to foster a community in which science, creativity, technology and education converge.
